Under the present Police Pension Roqulations an officer retiring in the same circumstances on tho present maximum salary of an Inspector would receive a ponsion of 2 x £535 = £356.13.4 per annum.

It should be noted that if the officer on the revised salery continues in the service his ultimate pension will increase by 1/50 annually until after 33 1/3 years of service he becomes eligible for the maximum pension of 2 x 14880 = $9920 per annum = £6 20 per annum.

COST OF LIVING ALLOWANCES.

Temporary scales have been approved for officers in receipt of revised salaries below $1,500 per month, but the se are subject to revision on a date not later than 1st July, 1948, and thereafter each quarter.

37. Payment of the temporary cost of living

A married man, widower or widow with one or more dependent children will receive 100% of the standard allowance for his or her salary group (ii) ▲ married man with no children will receive 80% of

the standard allowance, provided the t he is in- taining his wife.

(iii) Widowers and widows without children and unmarried

officers will receive 60% of the standard allowance. (iv) Married women will be paid at the rates laid down

in (iii) even though their husbands are drawing allowances at the rates set out in (i) or (ii). A dependent child for the purpose of cost of living allowance will be a son under the age of 18 or an unmarried daughter under the age of 21.
